Does Emerald have a university?
Emerald does not have a university offering full-scale degree programs like in larger cities. However, it hosts two campuses associated with universities.
The CQU Emerald campus supports online university students but does not teach them on-site. It offers trade-based apprenticeships, certificates, and diplomas. Online uni students can access resources, study spaces, and in-person support.
James Cook University (JCU) runs the Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health in Emerald. The centre focuses on health placements and hands-on training in nursing, medicine, and allied health. JCU is also introducing a Bachelor of Nursing Science.
